First, the seed of God, not man, was a requirement so that Jesus would not be born of the seed of fallen man, with a fallen nature like the rest of us. The seed is what passes on the fallen nature. Since every person born except Adam, Eve and Jesus came from the seed of a fallen man, all are fallen. Adam and Eve were not made sinners at birth. Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect.?" James , There are many who fail to understand the relation of faith and works. They say, "Only believe in Christ, and you are safe. You have nothing to do with keeping [p. ] the law." But genuine faith will be manifest in obedience. It is not because they have decided to do better. It is because God's seed (Greek - 'sperma') remains in them through the spiritual new birth. It goes without saying that faith is indeed the seed of Eternal Life. Without faith, there is no salvation and no assurance of heavenly glory. As Paul explains in Rom. , the seed of faith produces “holiness, and the end, everlasting life”. Although almost everyone knows and believes this gospel cliché, we need to review it in the light of our discussions in this series. By regeneration, or the new birth, we mean that act of the Holy Spirit whereby He communicates the divine life to the sinner, thus making him a child of God. The new birth is the key doctrine to every other truth revealed in the Word of God. To understand this doctrine is to open the door to an understanding of every other Bible doctrine.
